Maradona & Pele, Friends In 2005
In 2005 you can see Pele on Diego Maradona’s show and they both even exchange an “abraco” - Embraced as friends instead of old rivals. For years, the world has been discussing who was the better player, Pele or Maradona. What do you think?
Now, this last Tuesday Maradona showed a different side and attitude when he publicly criticized Pele.
Let’s just say that both players were the greatest in their time and end the rivalry. Maradona seems to have recovered from his astronomical weight gain and drug-related health problems so it looks like he has a promising future again.
We haven’t heard much from Pele in the last couple of years or so. There is no doubt that these two great players have inspired generations and will have their names engraved in the halls of soccer fame, probably forever.
Maradona only has good things to say about Ronaldinho Gaucho who is definitely an incredibly talented performer and fun to watch. Ronaldinho needs no validation anyway.
What I like about Brazil, Argentina and Italy is that when they play, they make soccer fun to watch. It’s not just a back-and-forth, kick the ball and run type game and both Maradona and Pele showed the world how to keep fans entertained.
But in all fairness, there are many other talented players out there. Cristiano Ronaldo, for example. Incredible player. Old timer Zidane is a legend. In today’s soccer world there are definitely quite a few very capable and fun to watch soccer stars.
